Sparkling Juicy Tea - Ponzu cucumber rolls
The perfect duo
Rose and cucumber go together! This ultimate combination has been convincing for a very long time. And the best thing about it? Cucumbers are available all year round, and the fine scent of roses is available in the bottle.
Van Nahmen's Sparkling Juicy Tea with Rose Darjeeling Rhubarb combines the scent of roses with the mild floral notes of Darjeeling tea. All perfectly combined with the juice of locally grown rhubarb.
We combine this drink with our Asian-inspired cucumber. Marinated in Ponzu and seasoned with a hint of Shichimi Togarashi. The perfect balance of acidity and spiciness is complemented by a touch of crunchy peanut butter for a delicious crunch!
A quick, light and surprising pairing!
Cheers!
Asista cucumber rolls with peanut butter and togarashi
Ingredients for the marinade:
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp ponzu (Japanese citrus soy sauce)
1 tsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp grated ginger
1/2 clove of garlic (crushed)
Ingredients for the cucumber rolls:
1 cucumber
Crunchy peanut butter
Togarashi (Japanese spice)
Toothpicks or picks
Preparation:
Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, ponzu, sesame oil, grated ginger and the crushed garlic clove. Leave the marinade to infuse for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
Prepare the cucumber: Wash the cucumber thoroughly. Use a peeler to peel off long, thin strips so that you have fine cucumber ribbons.
Marinate:
Place the cucumber strips in the prepared marinade and leave to marinate for about 10 minutes. This allows them to absorb the full flavor of the marinade.
Finishing the rolls:
Remove the cucumber strips from the marinade and pat dry lightly. Then spread with a thin layer of crunchy peanut butter.
Rolling and securing:Carefully roll up the coated cucumber strips and secure with a toothpick or pick.
To finish:
Sprinkle a little togarashi over the cucumber rolls to give them a slight spiciness and additional flavor.
To serve:
The cucumber rolls are a crunchy, fresh and spicy starter or a light snack that goes perfectly with Asian dishes!
