Pierre Zero Sparkling Chardonnay - alcohol free
A fruity taste, and more?
Sunday Review: Pierre Zero Sparkling
First of all, a quick note about the packaging: It seems to have changed. Thumbs up for that! The packaging, if it is the new one, seems a bit more upmarket to me. Real corks were used on my bottle. That will certainly not have changed.
As for the taste, the manufacturer's information: The white sparkling wine Pierre 0% shines with a fine bubbles and a light yellow colour. The floral bouquet is reminiscent of tropical fruits, peaches and lychees. A fruity taste follows on the palate, balanced by a fine freshness. That´s right, the Chardonnnay from the south of France is fine bubbly and light yellow. It also has a floral bouquet. When describing fruity, one should be careful with non-alcoholic wines. Experience shows that that this is unfortunately more than true. Often it means the lack of acidity and tannins. I had a hard time recognising peach and lychee. I rather had apple, blackcurrant and fully ripe grapes on the tongue, hardly complex. Sweet fruit notes dominate. The finish is somewhat lacking in meaning. A pity really, I had expected a bit more.
My conclusion: A very fruity sparkling wine that works well chilled as a thirst quencher, e.g. in summer, after a day at the beach. Obvious advantage: A clear head!
