Osco - Apéritif - non alcoholic
Well done!
That is exactly what OSCO means. It was the Occitan exclamation used in the markets when weighing, when the right weight, was found. "Osco! That's good, perfect!". The product keeps the promise. A balanced bitter with a verjus base. Verjus, the juice of unripe green grapes, has long been used as an alternative to lemons, and is widely used in Michelin-starred cuisine and the upscale bar scene. In Osco, this fine acidity makes the start. On the palate, fresh, citric with subtle orange. Ethereal and resinous herbs mingle on the nose. The aftertaste remains pleasantly long and, due to the gentian used, with an unmistakable fine-sweet bitter note. Osco is a wonderful aperitif on the market. A cheer not only for French craftsmanship but also for the sustainable approach. 96% of all ingredients come from France. Partners and processing companies are also based in "Hexagon". Drink like the gods of France, yas sober buddies! Osco succeeds in combining acidity, fruit and bitterness with fine herbal notes. We chill. A folding chair, a man-high rosemary plant on the left and the scent of sunlit Provence landscapes in the air. It' s bearable. Available in Germany from Notthegirl.de. Besides Osco, there are other non-alcoholic alternatives, fine syrups from Bacanha and much more!
Back to the drink. As usual, a mix with tonic was a bit too bitter for me. I mixed Osco with Borino Fizz. The Gentle Thai variety was a perfect match! The delicate ginger notes from the Borino combine wonderfully with the bitters, rosemary and orange in the Osco! Must try! I'll introduce Borino, a small producer from the north of Denmark, next time. Stay tuned!
