#equaldrinking

Equal Drinking is a concept that promotes inclusion and equality in the hospitality industry. The idea is to create places where everyone feels welcome, regardless of whether we want to consume alcohol or not. There is a suitable and, above all, adult beverage offer for everyone, and whether I like it or not, alcohol plays a significant role in our society and will continue to do so. I have no illusions about that. That's why one question will continue to dominate for a long time to come: Where can I celebrate my “social life”? Where can I find an adult, enjoyment-oriented and alcohol-free offer?

Yes, of course, non-alcoholic drinks such as water, cola and fruit spritzers are available everywhere. That's not the issue.

If I want to enjoy a good drink that I don't drink every day and possibly also want a lively bar environment, where do I go? Or for “semi-business” socializing? Networking, that's what it's all about. For me, it used to involve several heavy drinks. Completely nonsensical, because I got buzzed pretty quickly and from then on was more concerned with making sure my tongue didn't get too loose. My counterpart? Conversations of any importance? Purely a minor matter.

That's why I'm delighted with any place that offers me good alcohol-free alternatives. For me, a serious drink no longer has to contain alcohol. It just shouldn't look like a child's birthday party, and of course it should taste grown-up. That's what I mean by equal drinking. For me, there's a world of difference between toasting with a Coke or an equal alcohol-free cocktail.

One bar where you can really experience the concept of #equaldrinking is the wonderful Collab Bar by Chloe Merz and her team, located at Hein Hoyer Straße 63 in the middle of St. Pauli. A few steps down into the basement, a top-styled bar with a perfect dining area awaits us, and the outstanding feature of the Collab Bar is its serious commitment to offering non-alcoholic cocktails of the highest quality. The menu offers a wide range of creative cocktails “WITHOUT”.

A discreet but sufficiently clear marking on the menu draws attention to the respective alcohol content. A full circle means extra alcohol, three quarters, a half and a quarter indicate a lower alcohol content. A completely empty circle stands for alcohol-free.

The great thing is that every drink, whether N/A or boozy, gets exactly the same attention, both during production and when served. I have also experienced situations in which my N/A cocktail was put down with a slightly derogatory remark. That doesn't happen at the Collab Bar. I really feel taken seriously and welcome here.

A strong recommendation from me is André's bingo evening. Nothing is better than two rounds of bingo. All with the necessary background music and André's charismatic announcements. Extremely fun! Plus the great non-alcoholic drinks! It doesn't get any better than this! I promise!

Many thanks to Chloe and the Collab Bar team for being so committed and welcoming! You should definitely not miss a visit to the Collab Bar. Because in addition to the top drinks already mentioned, there are also top snacks!

Cheers friends
