Alcoholfree Pastis & Gin: The Misty in sober october

Recipe, Food, Styling & Photo: Oliver Schwarzwald

Sober October…

we are still on the road! As a big pastis fan, today I made a simple conversion of an alcoholic classic. At the great Charles Schuman's, it's called Foggy and consists of gin and pastis. Definitely a skull cracker, and in the old days it certainly wouldn't have stayed with just one. But because there are now many alcohol-free alternatives, I don't have to do without the fine aniseed - juniper mix. The non-alcoholic Pastsis has a strong flavour, so in the non-alcoholic version the mixing ratio must be shifted significantly towards gin. In addition, the non-alcoholic gin should not be too aromatic. Fluére's alcohol-free gin is ideal because, although it is close to a juniper-accented gin, it does not contain one-sided botanicals. This gives the pastis the twist it needs without creating a flavour chaos. I think Wonderleaf and Seedlip would also do well. An intense, aromatic long drink. If you like, you can also use soda instead of still water. I prefer it still.

Der Drink - Misty:

2 CL Ricard Pacific / alcohol-free Pastis

5 CL Fluère Gin / alcohol-free Gin

Ice

Water, still or sparkling.

Fill the glass with ice, pour in the pastis and gin, stir, top up with a little water.
