Jukes Cordialities - Tasting Box
Jukes Cordialities - Top notch!
There is probably no better way to start Dry January than with such a rich tasting box. The Jukes products are all based on apple cider vinegar. In my opinion, they clearly fall into the shrub category. However, in such a uniquely perfect and complex way that there should be a category of its own. I am extremely enthusiastic about the density of flavour and the variety of aromas. According to the manufacturer, they are based on more than two dozen natural ingredients such as fruits, herbs and spices. This opens up many possibilities for alcohol-free pairings at the highest level. Jukes was developed in London and is now served in top restaurants such as Alain Ducasse***, Sketch ***, Core by Clare Smyth**, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal **, Kitchen Table ** etc... Pure pairing motivation for me, more on that in the coming days!
Behind jukes are Matthew Jukes, author and sommelier with more than 30 years of professional experience in the wine trade and Jack Hollihan. As is often the case, it was the lack of serious non-alcoholic alternatives that led to the creation of their company. The result, as already mentioned, is a range of drinks that is second to none. Despite the price, a must buy!
Jukes 1 Peach blossom, cucumber, plum, tart apples and pineapple peel are the basis here and is characterised by a fine aroma, a full flavour and a long, tart finish with notes of lemon peel. Aroma split: White wine
Jukes 2 is inspired by light red wines that go well with classic autumn cuisine. A delicate blend of cranberries, sour cherries, blueberries, pomegranates, red apples and raspberries unfolds on the palate, complemented by earthy vegetables, fragrant herbs and warming spices.
Jukes 5 Bright green/white based on a blend of lemon, pear, green apple, cucumber, gooseberry and grapefruit, complemented by selected vegetables, delicately scented herbs and flora notes and subtle spice.
Jukes 6 Blackcurrants and blackberries set the tone, which is reflected in the strong colour of this drink. The complexity is underlined by red fruits, raspberries, strawberries and plums, which give it an extra dimension and depth. Alongside these familiar fruit notes, there are subtle notes of earthy botanicals and spices with depth. On the finish, these resonate with power and length. Flavour palette: red wine.
Jukes 8 Flavour-wise, this drink is based on melon, pomegranate, pear, rhubarb and apple, with additions of vegetables, herbs and spices. A successful interpretation of a modern rosé wine with a dry finish. This rosé wine alternative evokes the aromas of Provençal landscapes and the Mediterranean coast. Aroma range: Rosé.
