Hundertmorgen Riesling - non-alcoholic
Not quite 100 / 100
Under the Hundertmorgen (hundert mornings) brand, in addition to the classic products, a non-alcoholic wine is also offered. The name "hundred mornings" refers to the time from flowering in spring to full grape ripeness in late summer - that's about 100 days. And the non-alcoholic Riesling is surprisingly good, with a typical aroma profile familiar from the white grape variety.
Riesling is one of the best-known white grape varieties and is mainly grown in Germany, Austria and France. The Rheinhessen growing region is particularly well known for its Riesling wines. Bottles in a slim shape are typical for Riesling and emphasise the fresh, light and elegant aroma of this wine.
The flavour profile of this Riesling hits the expectations, fresh and with typical apple and citrus aroma. The acidity is well balanced and the overall taste is harmonious and pleasant. This shows that non-alcoholic wines are now of increasingly better quality. And that it is good to let non-alcoholic ones stand for a while after opening. I had the impression that the wine had much more profile after 2 days in the fridge.
All in all, this wine is an enrichment for the zeroproof shelf and for all those who are looking for a good alcohol-free Riesling that is also recognisable as such. This wine shows that in the meantime good wines can be made completely without alcohol, even if we still have some way to go. The full hundred points are not achieved here either, but I can recommend this Riesling with a good conscience!
Enjoy it chilled, but not too cold!
Cheers, sober buddies!
